North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Performs environmental remediation and construction project management responsibilities, which may include estimating, on medium sized project/s, multiple task orders, or on an assigned segment of a larger project, including coordination of design, procurement, and construction activities. When assigned to only a segment of a larger project, this role develops a complete understanding of the contract and with the superintendent or field team lead, all activities of the project to ensure that goals and/or objectives of projects are accomplished within the project time frame and budget.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Construction Superintendents complete organizational and project management responsibilities to effectively lead the construction team and ensure they have all the resources they need.
  • Manage a team of workers, including work schedules, project progress and resource allocation
  • Create cost estimates for labor, supplies, materials and other project costs
  • Participate in the development of work control documents including job hazard analysis
  • Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, other construction management to determine budget and timeline
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
  • Create schedules for workers and subcontractors
  • Maintain a daily log and other necessary documentation for the job site’s operations, reporting to management as necessary
  • Identify changes to management in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines
  • Oversees daily operations at a construction site.
  • Leads daily morning meetings with the entire crew.
  • Trains, and manages field crews.
  • Orders necessary equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ensures that the team adheres to all company policies and safety protocols.
  • Ensure that the project maintains the required schedule by organizing, planning, monitoring, and inspecting work.
  • Assist project manager with all required materials and ensure that materials and equipment are delivered to the site on time.
  • Assist project manager in defining subcontract scope of work and verifying that the subcontractor is on the project when required and progress in accordance with the schedule.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Assist with project estimates, bid packages, and schedule preparation and budgets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices
  • Experience in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance, and sustainability and OSHA 30-hour certification with Construction Health & Safety Technician certification desired
  • Construction Superintendent candidates should have 10 years of previous experience in the construction industry.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good communications skills, verbal and written
  • Computer use and knowledge of MS Word /Excel /PowerPoint /Primavera -P6
  • Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation and contingencies
  • Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
  • In-depth understanding of local, state and federal laws, regulations, standards, codes, and guidance
  • Great problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal-setting and conflict management
  • Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization and multitasking
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate work requirements with various staff and subcontractors
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change
  • Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices including occupational safety and health regulations

Special Requirements:

  • Security requirements determined by the installation. Limited background check and fingerprinting required.
  • Proof of citizenship will be required as a condition of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Department of Energy (DOE) experience is highly preferred.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • A construction manager or superintendent certification.
  • Previous managerial experience on a construction team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position requires working at the construction job site for extended periods of time. The position may require working during weekends and extended hours in order to meet deadlines.

Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, and sitting for long periods, and lifting 50 pounds.

Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions or difficult terrain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
