POSITION PURPOSE:

The Engineering intern works in a collaborative team environment under the supervision of staff engineers. The Intern performs routine engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles to complete project requirements and assignments.

They are assigned specific tasks on a project, and are expected to use their education, intelligence, questioning attitude, and critical thinking to perform certain job responsibilities. The Intern will learn the different aspects of engineering projects and learn how to complete the different tasks associated with their field. Work will entail a combination of the following:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafting help for the engineers.
  • Perform design calculations, interpreting design drawings
  • Drafting assistance of engineering drawings
  • Participate in site visits, as required
  • Energy Modeling
  • Commissioning
  • HVAC Systems, Plumbing Systems, Water Treatment System rendering reviews
  • Research and identify governing criteria, codes, guides, and best practices
  • Work under the supervision of designers, engineers and other team members.
  • Any other assigned duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in a two or four year degree program; OR recently graduated from a two or four year degree program; OR enrolled or recently graduated from an applicable vocational training program.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.0 or above.
  • Must be a CIRI Shareholder and/or Descendant.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • English language speaking.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Competent use of Revit, AutoCAD, or other CAD software
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and methods
  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related undergraduate degree is required.
  • Knowledge of AutoCad 2024, and Revit 2024

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Potential to be around construction equipment when visiting job sites, be able to handle loud noises.
  • Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment.
