Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE: Ensure that the construction project plans are properly executed and evaluate the effectiveness of controls delineated in the QAIP and procedure. Verify that all required construction QC sampling, testing, and documentation are performed correctly. Perform acceptance and rejection of material placement. Perform surveillances, and audits of Moab project operations. Assist in developing, training and verifying use of QA/QC procedures and instructions. Provide reports of observation and test results. Perform soil laboratory testing. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that the construction project plans are properly executed and evaluate the effectiveness of controls delineated in the work plans and procedure.
  • Verify that all required construction QC sampling, testing, and documentation are performed correctly.
  • Assist in the development, training, and verify use of Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and instructions.
  • Participate in conducting daily quality checks and obtaining data for reports
  • Perform and support quality surveillances, inspections, and audits of Moab project operations.
  • Assist in recording, maintaining, and submitting various information.
  • Ensure that project record keeping is effective, thorough, and complete
  • Perform acceptance and rejection of material placement.
  • Assist in developing, training, and verifying use of QA procedures and instructions.
  • Provide reports of observation and test results.
  • Provide other support with special projects and other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) – two (2) years of construction or remediation experience
  • Qualify to use a Nuclear Density Gauge within the first 12 months of employment

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to perform basic math.
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, detailed oriented.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to work well with a team.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and provide QA oversight for multiple contractors and craft.
  • Knowledgeable regarding measurement and test equipment (MT&E) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC testing in compliance with ASTM 698, 1556,2216, 4643 and 6938 standards.
  • Experience in QA/QC and knowledge of quality guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • AA degree in Engineering, Science or Equivalent or combination of education, training, and experience
  • One (1) - two (2) years of construction QA/QC experience or related role.
  • Experience working on a DOE site.
  • Experience in surveying and soil testing.
  • Experience working on radiological and/or hazardous waste site.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to qualify as a DOE Radiation Worker II, complete 40hour OSHA HAZWOPER worker training and pass a HAZWOPER/respirator user medical exam.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • May be required to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
