Incorporated in 2011, North Wind Resource Consulting’s core capabilities include environmental documentation and permitting; natural and cultural resource surveys; wildlife and botanical expertise; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) technical services; historic and prehistoric surveys; environmental consultation such as Section 106 for cultural resources, Section 404 for wetlands, and Section 7 for endangered species); and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping capabilities. North Wind Resource Consulting maintains offices across the country.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Purpose of the position is to conduct archaeological fieldwork. The objective of the position is to collect field data in a scientific and detailed manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all safety protocols and work in a safe manner
  • Identification of archaeological sites including artifacts and features
  • Collect data at archaeological and historic sites
  • Taking of photographs of archaeological sites, artifacts, features, and standing structures
  • Keep detailed notes
  • Collection of GIS data

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive a company owned 4-wheel drive vehicle
  • Be able to navigate using a topographic map

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Minimum of a BA or BS in Anthropology or affiliated field of study such as History

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be organized
  • Must be able to follow verbal instructions
  • Proficient in the identification of cultural resources including artifacts and features

Special Requirements:

  • Must pass a drug test
  • Have valid driver's license
  • Be able to work over time
  • Be able to travel up to 10 days at a time
  • Have the ability to camp

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have at least 1 year of fieldwork experience in the Great Basin, Plains or Plateau

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Be able to hike up to 10 miles in a day over varying terrain (slopes, hills, mountains, etc.)
  • Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs in a backpack
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions (rain, snow, sleet, wind, heat, cold, etc.)
